Charlie....our Mr. Ed

Day 19 - Personal photo challenge

I am forgiving myself for the multi day lag of not posting, my emotional state was not allowing me to see beyond myself. Today i can see beyond the clouds and for the first time in days ive picked up my camera. I believe there is no failure in this as long as i pick it up when im able...today!

I do wonder how mom will take to life on the farm for even 10 days. Charlie coming to the door for his daily hello when she visits in january! The cows passing by the windows each afternoon, the chickens roaming aimlessly...well lets just wait and see!

Purple rain

Day 18 - personal photo challenge

Its spring here in New South Whales and the purple trees are all a bloom! I love the contrast against the green trees and the purple floor beneath it that is created, just like purple rain.

Two of my favorite things

Day 17 - personal photo challenge

NO not surfing silly, Shorty and Sunsets,  although I do love to watch them carve it up! But truth be told for those who have not tried it surfing is far harder than anyone tells you. Unless you have lots of time up your sleeve to dedicate to it, stay on the beach!

The Giving Tree

Day 16 - personal photo challenge

A favorite childhood book has made an appearance in our patio, The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. We cut down a few large trees in our small patio to let light in and decrease the mossies, the logs made amazing bonfires for Shortys 40th birthday party.

The tree was treated to not grow back and is now used as a stool or a candle holder but to my amazement,  it has sprouted babies! Its spring on the farm...babies all around!

A favortite spot for sunset - Lucas's

Day 15 - personal photo challenge

I appreciate how quite this photo feel especially after the crazy wind we've been experiencing for weeks! You can feel the boys are in the bath, dinners on the stove, wines poured and the chickens are getting their last grubs before packing it in themselves.

Shorty and Charlie

Day 14 - personal photo challenge

Im learning that dreams we have since our youth or childhood should be explored, by all means, but with low expectations. Ive had a dream of being a photographer similarly Shorty has had a dream of one day owning a horse, living in a tipi and owning a surf board. I thought, great i can make her dreams come true..easy. Since the surf board was realized in LA many years ago and I have no intention of living in a tipi unless it has a floor, windows, bathroom, and a verandah the horse was next on my list.

What I never anticipated happened. I bought Shorty Charlie brown a 3 yr old stock horse with a help of a friend who knew horses and was going to train charlie for a few months. At the start Charlie was docile and we thought he would be great for children. Charlie quickly got hold that part of Shorty which is a pushover and he had it over her. Her fear of falling now paralyzes her and she's nearly ready to release the dream.

This was her longest ride with Charlie to date, so lets see!

a mommys protection

Day 13 - personal photo challenge

Watching how this mommy protected her 1 month old foal today from other horses and from my camera lens was amazing. It brought up thoughts of how safe my baby is in my belly now and how i too will protect it once he/she reveals its self in a few short 8ish weeks.
